Travestie.Vlaanderen is an association for people who see cross-dressing as a personal form of expression, identity and self-expression. No show, no compulsory mask, no judgement, just a welcoming place where you can discover, express and connect with yourself at your own pace.

As a recognised LGBTQ+ association of the city of Ghent Travestie.Vlaanderen is committed to promoting visibility, solidarity and understanding. We offer cross-dressers and anyone who feels connected to our work a safe, discreet and respectful environment.

For us, it's not about having to dare.
It's about being allowed to exist.

Travestie.Vlaanderen aims to be a recognisable and accessible space for anyone involved in cross-dressing, or who would like to find out more about it.
We do this in a number of ways:

  • via our website, with information about cross-dressing, our vision, how we operate and our activities
  • via physical gatherings in De Poederdoos, our meeting room
  • through outdoor activities De Poederdoos, for those who like to take steps together in the great outdoors
  • via our monthly newsletter, De Travestie Gazette
  • through a membership network where trust, discretion, and connection are central

We want to bring people together. Not to pigeonhole anyone, but rather to make a bit more space.

Travestie.Vlaanderen is a recognised LGBTQ+ association in Ghent. This recognition means a lot to us. It shows that we are part of a wider community where diversity, freedom, and visibility are important.
We show ourselves to our fellow citizens. Not loudly to provoke, but visibly because we exist. Because cross-dressers are also part of our society.

Therefore, we sometimes participate in activities outside De Poederdoos. For example, think of the Light Festival in Ghent or the Rainbow Night during the Ghent Festivities. If you're ready for that, you can join us on a night out in an LGBTQ+ friendly environment.
For some, it’s a fun day out. For others, it’s a first, exciting step outside their familiar surroundings. Both are equally valuable.

Travestie.Vlaanderen's website consists of two parts: an open section for all visitors and a members-only section.

Open area for all visitors
The open section is accessible to everyone. Here you will find general information about Travestie.Vlaanderen, our vision, our gatherings, our agenda and the way you can get to know us.
This part of the website is intended for visitors who are curious, looking for recognition, or wish to cautiously discover if our association might be something for them.

Members' area
Additionally, there is a members-only section. There, members can find further information about how Travestie.Vlaanderen operates and everything De Poederdoos has to do with.
This protected section ensures that members can access appointments, practical information and internal communication in confidence. Privacy and discretion are not a detail for us, but a core value.

Anyone who wants to stay up-to-date with what's happening at Travestie.Vlaanderen can sign up for De Travestie Gazette.

This newsletter is sent out once a month to subscribers. You'll read more about it in the upcoming gatherings in De Poederdoos, planned activities, news, and important announcements.
This way, you can stay connected, even if you’re not yet ready to attend a meeting in person. Sometimes, getting involved simply starts with quietly reading along. And that’s perfectly fine.

Joining a club is often done to meet new people. This is certainly true when those people, like yourself, are interested in crossdressing, gender expression, or finding a place where one can be yourself.

Travestie.Vlaanderen is a friendly social club with a warm heart. Here, you’ll meet people with similar experiences, questions, doubts and stories. Sometimes relatable, sometimes surprising, but always treated with respect.

Travestie.Vlaanderen organizes in-person gatherings in De Poederdoos, our meeting room.

These gatherings are warm, safe spaces where cross-dressers can meet up. You don’t need to be perfectly prepared, and you don’t need to be sure about everything straight away. Just come as you are: with your questions, your enthusiasm, your nerves or your smile.

Please note: for gatherings Registration is compulsory. Places usually fill up quickly, so we recommend booking well in advance. Once full, no further bookings will be accepted: to ensure everyone is treated equally, no exceptions will be made.

Not everyone feels comfortable going out in women’s clothing or expressing themselves in a way that still feels new to them. We understand that very well.

That's why Travestie.Vlaanderen is sometimes also active outside De Poederdoos. For those who want to take their first steps into the outside world but can still use some support, going out together can be a valuable experience.

This always happens based on mutual agreement, respect for everyone’s boundaries and a focus on safety. Nobody is rushed or made to go any faster than they feel comfortable with.
Sometimes a single step outside the door is a journey of a thousand miles. And you don't always have to take that step alone.

Travestie.Vlaanderen makes time for questions and dialogue during its organized activities.

These can be practical questions about clothing, make-up, wigs, or going out. But they can just as easily be personal questions about shame, self-confidence, relationships, recognition, or finding the words for what you feel.

We don’t always have a ready-made answer to everything straight away. But we do listen. And often, an answer starts right there: with someone who sits next to you for a moment and tells you that you’re not alone.

Travestie.Vlaanderen is not a dating site!!!

Our association aims to bring people together in a safe, respectful, and discreet environment. We do not share members' personal data and we do not pass on contact information.

If members wish to keep in touch with one another outside De Poederdoos, this is only possible if they choose to do so voluntarily and with mutual consent. The exchange of personal details always takes place in person, during meetings, and with respect for each other’s boundaries. Everyone is entirely free to decline this."No, rather not” is therefore a clear and valid choice, which must be respected without further explanation. (see Privacybeleid)

Discretion isn't a formality for us. It's a promise.
